Jason spent his formative years in the RAF Mountain Rescue Service where he qualified as a Mountain Rescue Team Leader and Search and Rescue Medic, ultimately acting as the Medical Training Officer for the 6 UK based RAF Rescue Teams.
In this time he was twice commended for lifesaving in Mountain Rescue and took part in number of high profile operations - such as retrieving the WWII fighter from an Icelandic Glacier. In the later part of his military career he commissioned as a communications engineering officer, completing a number of operational deployments in Afghanistan, as well as being responsible for policy and training of operational military staff.
In recent years he continues to pursue his passion for travel and education, as a founder of Tirio, offering unique Wilderness Skills education. He also delivers wilderness and specialist first aid training to over 400 outdoor professional per year. He is a Rescue 3 Europe Instructor, Mountain Leader and Advanced Canoe Leader. Jason has climbed and paddled on expeditions throughout the world, including Scandinavia, Africa, USA and Europe. Jason has just completed a masters degree in Elite Performance specifically looking at decision making.
